Our Story

Surf Shack Designs began the way most good things from Cornwall do — with salty air, the sound of gulls, walking the cobbled streets or granite coast path, and taking pictures of the things that took my breath away.

I'm Steve, the person behind every image you'll find here. Just a person who spent many years in Cornwall, walking and fishing along its rocky coastline, long before I ever thought about turning the wonders I'd seen into a business. Cookworthy Knapp on the A30, the harbour at St Ives, the tide rolling in around St Michael's Mount, the pier at Smeaton's — these aren't stock locations to me. They're places I know and smile about with every reminiscence, and every print in this shop started as a picture that I took myself.

Surf Shack Designs was built to bring that connection to Cornwall into people's homes, wherever they are now living — whether that's like listening to Shanty singers harmonizing to Harry Glasson's beautiful 'Cornwall my home', memories of seashores and summers, a place you love to visit, or just somewhere that's within your heart and soul wherever you are.

How it works

Each design starts as one of my original photographs, reworked with illustration or watercolour-style effects to bring out the mood of a place. From there, every print, canvas, mug, t-shirt and tote is made to order through a trusted UK print partner — meaning nothing sits in a warehouse until you order it, and each piece is produced specifically for you.
